Our Story

In March of 2018, Tom Murphy gave a speech at a ColCapital conference in Bogota on new technologies for investors. One of the speeches was a duet with a friend, John McKinley, the former CTO of GE. At the end of our talk, John asked Tom what the next best technology for Colombia would be. His answer was “Cargo Drones”.

He answered this way because the previous days had been spent in Medellin in a bus behind large trucks climbing slowly up the narrow mountainous roads. He also witnessed farmers packing their motorcycles with bags of goods to be driven down the mountain to the city and to try to get their before the product went bad.

After the speech, several private equity funds asked about the status of the cargo drone business and when would it be in operation. We also received a call from the national government to offer what ever help we need to get the business going. At that point, we decided we better actually create a business.

When Tom uttered “cargo drones” on stage, he didn’t know that cargo drones did not exist anywhere in the world and we began looking at developing our own. Tom had been spent the last 3 years working with a large logistic company designing AI systems to create sophisticated routes to get trucks to their location faster and cheaper, so he had a basic understanding of what was required.

Over the next years, we have learned it was not the cargo drone that was the hard part but construction of an ecosystem in which the drones can operate safely. Thus the designs for the droneports was born. With the combined experience the team, we have  a basic design of what goes on in the droneport and the drone.

Now, understanding the sheer number of technologies that need to integrated together to build the drone and the ecosystems, we have created the International Freight Drone. We will need to work with a number of companies that have products that will make up the offerings we have already sold and allow them to receive revenue for their work integrating their products.

What We Do

Autonomous Drone

Manufacture and sell autonmous drones that are large enough to carry 10 ton shipping containers and fly them over 435 miles (700 km).

Develop Drone Ecosystem

Franchise droneports that allow the drones to function safely and effeciently. We provide the franchisee with a complete kit for constuction and operation.

Sky Lanes

IFD will purchase the air rights that will form a drone lane between cities for the drones to operate in. Freight regulations will dictate that this size drone only operate in the ky lanes.

Standards & Regulations

IFD will be joining with other companies to create a set of standards to assure that the industry is built of a safe foundation that companies around the world can follow.

With Your Help, We are Making The World a Better Place

Utilization of drones and ecosystem will open up markets in places within countries that do not have  infrastructure support today. This means opening new businesses and factories and providing jobs to areas that have never been able to sustain them.
