International Freight Drone

Creating Equalities In freight movement

Catalyst for Change by Introducing Freight Drones to the World

“Your Business Greatness” podcast by Simone Sloan and Tom Murphy

The Market

Logistics Market Size

The current market is set to reach US $15.5T by 2024 with a growth spirited on by a 7.2% CAGR.

Of that, US $800B is spent on long haul cargo moves between cities within the same country. Our goal is to move a portion of this market to freight drones. This includes time sensitive and valuable freight:

  • High Value Cargo like high tech or  jewelry
  • Agricultural Products
  • Equipment
  • Mail and Packages
  • B2B Freight
  • Medical Supplies
  • Disaster and Emergency Products

New Markets

New Markets Around the World

Because the drones will be leapfrogging poor road infrastructure, villages like the one above can now receive raw materials, mail and products from cities, ports or airports. These elements can be used to create new businesses, factories and markets.

Getting finished goods from these villages to the cities is only a 2 hour flight and not a 12 hour truck ride, this will keep the goods competitive.

New markets will be seen in:

  • Agricultural products
  • Flowers
  • Furniture
  • Fish
  • Jewelry
  • Product assembly

About Our Company

In the spring of 2018, during a speech in Bogota, the idea of using freight drones to jump start the economy came to be. Directly after that speech, we began gathering information of existing freight drones (there are none) and worked with a number of different government agencies to understand the regulations around moving freight via air.

We decided that working with the Colombian government would provide the regulatory environment we need to introduce a freight drone into a country in a safe and efficient manner. Safety had to be the paramount concern as any failure in this regard could set the use of the drones back and stall improvement to the country’s transportation infrastructure.

The drone we will be selling to logistics companies in Colombia, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Indonesia and other developing countries has to be cost effective which means it needs to operate autonomously with the ability to lift shipping containers and carry them up to 435 mi. (700 km). We need to make sure that there are no points where the freight is handled by humans such that containers go from the truck to the drone and back to a truck. This has led us to a droneport design that improves the efficiency such that the cost of moving freight with a drone are at a minimum equal to that of the truck.

This undertaking will require a number of companies that can contribute technology, knowledge and ideas, while receiving revenue from our efforts in countries around the world. If you feel your company can contribute to the goals of the company please join us.

IFD is developing products in the following areas:

Freight Drone Design and Manufacturing

Design, build and manufacture the freight drones that are capable of carrying 10-tons of shipping container over 700 kms.

Droneport Design and Development

In order for these large drones to fly safely, we will be purchasing sky lanes for their exclusive use. At the end of the sky lanes will be droneports that are designed and operated exclusively for drone activity.

Ecosystem Support Systems

The support systems for the freight drone ecosystem consists of an AI system that controls the drones in flight and the various robotic systems for loading/unloading, fueling, inspections, moving and other supporting systems done by humans today.

Regulatory & Standards

As this is a new industry each country will need to adopt new regulations to support the drones and the ecosystem, IFD will  help by providing the regulatory bodies with the details needed to create a safe environment.

We Have the Power to Impact the Future, and We’re Doing Something About It

Many developing countries suffer from poor road infrastructure due to costs and topology. This causes delays in getting product to markets and raw materials from reaching manufacturing in time to meet customer orders. As an example, in Africa, 47% of all ripe produce never makes it to market due to delays caused by the poor and crowded roads. The ripe produce is often left on the sides of the roads.

Our plan is to literally leap frog the poor infrastructure and open new markets and manufacturing facilities where only poor villages are now. Thus breathing new life into these areas and providing new purpose and financial infusions.

Colombia Campaign

We have selected Colombia as the first country in which to introduce this technology.  Key factors in selecting Colombia were Government support for the necessary regulatory changes and the topology of the country.  This topology will allow us to create sky lanes that are not over people or structures.

We have contacted the government about the building of 2 droneports this year that will move agricultural products from farms to the nearest city. This will be done through the use of smaller drones that are supplemented by Chinook helicopters that will be moving IFD refrigerated containers.

Once proof of concept and operational procedures are written for the country, IFD will begin building more droneports through it’s Colombian subsidiary, Carga Cognitiva.
